IT Manager (Part-Time)

YOUR ROLE
As an IT Manager Consultant at PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions, manage, maintain and supply all services and equipment that is related to allowing our development teams to perform their tasks on a day to day basis. Our studio is producing unique technology in gaming, requiring out of the box thinking of our whole team, including IT, looking for creative solutions to address requirements from the development teams and improve processes so they have visibility, transparency, discoverability, and are easier to understand and use.

This is a part time 12-month Fixed Term Contract (2-3 days per week) beginning in January, with the possibility to transition to full time.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement long-term IT strategies, leading projects to simplify and standardize our infrastructure while identifying future needs and recommending solutions that support the studio's growth.  
  •  Collaborate with stakeholders in engineering, finance, executive leadership, and HR to align IT priorities with company goals.
  • Manage hybrid on-premise and cloud infrastructure, prioritising open-source solutions and vendor-agnostic systems where possible.
  • Ensure high availability of systems, minimising disruptions and supporting VPN access for remote teams across Europe.
  • Proactively identify long-term infrastructure needs, balancing cost efficiency with strategic solutions.
  • Oversee and schedule tasks for IT staff, using tools like Jira and Confluence for visibility and transparency.
  • Maintain on premise software installations (such as GitLab and Helix Core) to ensure they are kept up to date, maintenance is performed, and the data is backed up securely
  • Enhance application deployment, file-sharing, and collaboration tools for improved workflows and user accessibility. 
YOUR PROFILE
  • Experience in IT Management or similar roles with proven experience managing IT projects in fast paced technical environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows (10/11, Server 2016/2019), Linux (Debian/Ubuntu), and FreeBSD operating systems, including Active Directory and Azure Entra management.
  • Hands-on experience with critical applications like Perforce, Gitlab, Jenkins-based CI, and high-performance clustered storage systems.
  • Proficiency with virtualization platforms such as VMware and Proxmox, as well as networking, routing, and storage solutions.
  • Familiarity with automation and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) tools, including Ansible, to streamline deployment and configuration.
  • Strong stakeholder management and process improvement skills, with the ability to document, streamline, and prioritize IT workflows, enhancing communication and transparency with stakeholders. 
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS
  • Experience or interest in working within the gaming industry
  • Familiarity with emerging IT trends and tools that could benefit a modern game development studio.
  • Background in IT consultancy or similar roles
  • Experience with on-premise and cloud based solutions

Project Melba is a new simulation engine being built from the ground up, utilizing data-driven design, multi-core processing and machine learning at its foundation in order to power virtual worlds on a scale beyond the capabilities of current technology.

You are free to work and hang out with us every day in our Amsterdam Studio. If you prefer to work from home, you can take advantage of three work-from-home days a week.

You will have 25 days off and 3 extra studio days off throughout the year. You can also celebrate your birthday with an extra day off!
