Senior Audio Programmer

Permanent employee, Full-time · Amsterdam

YOUR ROLE
You will implement audio systems using a 3rd party sound library. Collaborate with scientists and the senior sound designer to explore and experiment with new technologies to enable simulation driven sound solutions for large sand-box environments.

This involves:

  • Work for a highly data-driven, simulation-based, open-world, sandbox project.
  • Configure and maintain audio tools pipeline using a third party audio library,
  • Implement runtime audio systems and features using a third party audio library.
  • Adopt a breath-first development approach: design for scalability, implement iterative.
  • Use and expand the proprietary ECS-based engine.
  • Integrate and extend audio third party library into Melba engine.
  • Author documentation and communicate best practices and technical constraints of the audio systems and tools to engineering and content development team members.
YOUR PROFILE
  • Highly motivated to work with new and emerging technologies in a research driven environment.
  • Extensive professional programming experience, especially in the field of virtual environment or game audio. 
  • Advanced proficiency in C/C++.
  • Understanding of scalable software design and architectures (DOD, ECS).
  • Experience integrating / adapting 3rd party technologies.
  • Experienced with audio concepts (acoustic simulations, streaming audio sources, synthesis.)
  • Interest in working on various audio related tasks, including research and development of proprietary tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Solid understanding of mathematics.
  • Solid understanding of audio physics.
  • Produce platform independent code.
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal and written English.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
  • Experience developing for multiple platforms.
  • Experience developing large-scale / open-world / sandbox projects.
  • Have built audio engines and shipped them to users.
  • Additional programming languages like Python.
  • Interest in Machine Learning technologies applied to audio.
  • Working knowledge of Atlassian software development and collaboration tools.
  • Experience working in diverse, multinational teams.

MELBA Team is PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions’ applied research division. Project Melba is a new simulation engine being built from the ground up, utilizing data-driven design, multi-core processing and machine learning at its foundation in order to power virtual worlds on a scale beyond the capabilities of current technology.

Vacation
